Well, it's been a few days since Sym and I got back from Meeru (seems more than that now though Crying or Very sad ) and I just have to say, it was definately the BEST island we've been to!

We were very excited after reading these forums for the best part of the year, and we were not dissapointed at all.

Our flight was fine, and seemed to go really quick as we avoided looking at the "Where Are We?" program on the plane. After landing and queing up at immigration, we finally walked through to the airport cafe area and felt like we we home again!

After only about 20 minutes, we got called over to the 'Meeru Princess' and we loved how spacious and comfortable it was inside, I fell asleep watching the Meeru video and woke up just as we were approaching the island! Good timing!

When we got off the boat we were welcomed by Amelia and received juice and a cold towel which were very appreciated! We had originally emailed the island to request room 529, and when were given the keys to 505 I was a bit dissapointed, but after getting a buggy to the room and letting ourselves in, I was quickly over it!!! The view was incredible, across the lagoon and we thought the location was much better than if were in 529.

We immediately got changed into our swimming shorts and got into the gorgeous crystal clear water and were surprised to see about 20 baby reef sharks coming our way! We were scared at first but when we realised they were more interested in the little fish we started to enjoy their company!

After a bit of swimming we headed to Uthuru bar to quench our thirsts and we loved it! Sitting in those comfy chairs outside with your feet up drinking a lovely cocktail of the day - what could be better!?
After about an hour it did begin to rain, only for about 30 mins so that gave us an excuse for another drink (not that we needed one lololol) and this created a beautiful rainbow over the spa rooms!

After a little nap, we got ready for dinner and were very pleased to find we could sit anywhere we wanted in our area! This was great as it just gave you the feeling of more freedom, compared to the cramped eating areas of other islands we've been to. The food was lovely, something different every night, and the desserts!!! Just wow! Breakfast was my favourite though - all them pastries, waffles, peanut butter! And the extra treat of champagne on a Sunday! Our waiter Faz was such a character, we loved him! He was very friendly, shook our hands everyday!

We spent the next day exploring the island, taking photos of the bent palm trees and lizards, checking out the Pavillion Bar and infinity pool, and sitting on the swings and hammocks! Absolute bliss! Friday nights were great as there was a big table set up between the bar and restaurant with coconut cocktails and I was addicted to these! Very lethal though! Ha!

So, for the first week we pretty much did the same everyday, then for the second week we decided to see what else the island had to offer.

We booked Asian Wok for Saturday night and it was incredible! The service was excellent, atmosphere was sophisticated yet relaxed and the food was delicious! Would recommend it to everyone!

We decided to hire a kayak aswell as we were all inclusive so we had an hour free and we'd seen other people enjoying it, and were in agony! Ha! We thought it was going to be easy but it really was hard work, although the views of the island, especially the Water villas was breathtaking. I don't know how we managed it, but we got all the way around the island and were very proud of ourselves!

On our very last night we saw Yvonne and Jonny who were lovely, just a shame we never got to have a proper chat, hope you're enjoying your time there!

There are lots of things we wanted to do but just didn't have the energy\motivation to do, like visiting the house reef, eating at Hot Rock, going on a cruise, but there is plenty of time for that as we've decided to go back to Meeru in October 2012!

We always said we would go to other islands but we have fell in love with Meeru! We can't wait to return!!!

We went to Chaaya Island Dhonveli in October 2009. Very small island, not much beach but we were upgraded to a water villa for free as all the beach bungalows were being used by surfers for the Oxbow championship. Loved it at the time as it was our first visit to the Maldives, but looking back it wasn't great.

Then Meedhupparu in October 2010, this was a small island too, but the beach was a lot better, massive bar and restaurant too but cramped and was more for families.

Meeru wins. Hands down! Very Happy

Hi guys, really liked your report and glad that your holiday to Meeru was everything that you had hoped it would be! We felt exactly the same, so chilled and relaxed like never before, so had to book to go back again...... it was the only cure!
