|Hot on the heels of the partial Solar Eclipse many of us saw from the UK just a couple of weeks ago, there is going to be a partial eclipse of the Moon visible from the Maldives this Saturday 4th April.
It won't be visible from Europe but, clouds allowing, anyone on Meeru will be able to see it.
The Moon will already be in partial eclipse when it rises in the East (opposite side of sky to where the sun sets) at about 6.15pm local Maldives time. It will also already be at it's maximum shadowed extent then (about 1 third) and will then lose the Earth's shadow over the course of about half an hour.
The shadow won't be completely black but typically a very dark and mysterious rouge (caused by the scattering of the light passing through the edge of the Earth's atmosphere).
Worth a look if you have the chance. But remember your window of viewing only lasts a max of half an hour starting at 6.15pm local Maldives time when the Moon rises.
Given how low the Moon will be, best views will be from the east side of the island (Pavillion Bar / Infinity Pool side).
Good luck !
