This was our 7th visit to Meeru after a week in Sri Lanka.
We had booked a water villa and sent in a request for a high number villa. We were surprised and delighted to find we had been allocated 529 which is the very end villa. It was so private as the decking was high up so anybody passing could not see into our room. The view from our room and decking was nothing but the ocean which was amazing.I normally went a walk around the island early morning and it was so peaceful and I hardly came across anybody at all.It was the best time of day to experience the beauty of the island. There have been quite a few changes and improvements on the island since we first went 10 years ago and the family restaurant is currently being refurbished. Our villa had been refurbished since last year and we were very pleased with the new decor. The all inclusive plan includes most drinks from the mini bar which was nice not to have to keep going to the bar if we fancied a drink when we stayed in the villa.
We were in the Maalan restaurant once again and were welcomed by restaurant manager Hassan who remembered us from previous visits.Ismail our waiter was always welcoming us each meal with a smile and a chat. The food was good and varied as usual and we didn't find anything that we didn't like.
The weather was good to us with just the occasional shower which never lasted long.Being on the east of the island we did not get any breeze during the day so we went to the beach in the afternoon where the westerly breeze was welcomed.
We had gone to Meeru the first time as a once in a lifetime holiday but we have not found anywhere else to find that matches it.Once we arrive we take off our shoes and are immediately relaxed and feel at home.We will be missing going to Meeru next year but are already planning our return in 2 years time.
Anybody who is a repeat guest will understand what I mean about feeling at home and why we keep going back. The staff are so friendly and will do anything to help you.
Can't settle at home still after being back a week just keep thinking what we would be doing at Meeru.
All credit to Walter and all the staff and can't wait until we return.

Know exactly what you mean about what what we find as repeaters. When we first visited, Hassan was a drinks waiter at the 'old' Dhoni Bar, then worked his way up, now managing the Maalan restaurant and still as cheeky! Pity he is a Man U supporter. After our 11th visit last February we have to decide whether to make it a 12th next year. Decisions, decisions.....

It still sounds the idyllic heaven I remember it to be.
