Changes we like...

...and / or intrigue us that we've spotted since our last visit (last October).

In no particular order:

- Card based room entry. And getting two key cards means not having to worry about who's-looking-after-the-key if you both have separate commitments at any particular time.
- Uthuru "Games Zone" area (has aircon) which includes a separate dedicated TV room. I know some are not so sure / used to it yet but we're fond.
- Life vests in rooms (good to know they're there)

Food Related:

- Gluten free food section in main restaurants
- Vegetarian food more clearly flagged up
- Ice Cream now offered every night of the week in the main restaurants
- Macaroons!

Misc:

- Beach towels cabinet at the main pool, filled with beach towels (for pool use only). No need to carry your own to / from the pool. There's also a disposal unit to drop the used beach towels into once you're done with towels at the pool. There's a similar set up at the Infinity pool too.
- Night snorkelling offered by Euro Divers. Not tried it but I'll bet it's fascinating.
- New Tidal information panel on that TV channel that displays flight departure info for guests. Knowing that the tide is rising / falling can be handy when it comes to snorkelling around the island.

And best of all...Yovan is now back at the Uthuru Bar Smile.

Hi HJ & Pam, its nice to see that you are back in your second home.

All your reported findings look as a positive point for the island and its visitors. like the idea of 2 key cards as you have reported. But the old ones did float if you dropped them in the water/sea Ha Ha.

Best news is that Yovan is back where he really belongs, such a top guy and always doing more for the guests than is needed ACE.

Have a good time both of you, and keep us all posted on any other updates.

Regards

Polly & Adrian

Are the key cards waterproof? Do they float? Laughing Laughing

Yes great news regarding Yovan, the place was never the same without him and I felt that he was really out of place when we saw him in the noisy bar - he couldn't chat to anyone and seemed quite frankly miserable!

Night snorkelling NO CHANCE Laughing but I'm sure others will love it.....

Nice to get news from Meeru. Thanks HJ. It's been very quiet on here for a while.

It's also a while ago since we bumped into you and Pam on Meeru when, for once, you swopped your usual October visit for our usual time in February. Hope you are both well.

Yes, good news on the Yovan front. He's one of the many very good guys (and girls) on Meeru, such as Saeed, Rana, Waheed, Dileep....and plenty more.

Yet more changes on Meeru which we will see for ourselves on our latest return in February. Counting the days, as usual.

Thank you HJ for the 'New Things' update. I hope you are having a great holiday.
Do you know whether Ismail is still a waiter in the Maalan restaurant, or has possibly gone to the Farivalhu, please?
Kind regards,
Jill

Hi Jill

Apologies for delay in replying. I can confirm Ismail is still a waiter in the Maalan restaurant.

Lots going on at the island at the mo, not least the inter-departmental football tournament. As I've been adopted as (once again) unofficial photographer for Food and Beverages Dept. team, I'm particularly chuffed that F&B have made it through to the semi-finals later this week after a draw, 3-1 win, and a riveting 1-0 match win in the initial stages Smile.

We could hear the cheering from the infinity pool!

Iím sure I read they now put snorkel vests in the villas but we donít have any. There are only emergency life vests. I thought that sounded like a good addition. We do however have some lovely Flip flops that print Meeru in the sand as you walk - not sure if they are ours to keep or to be left in the room though?
