Not long now, 7 weeks today and we will be heading back to our favourite place to celebrate our favourite time of the year, really am getting so excited.

Will be very interesting to see if Burt, the new manager makes many changes to the festive programme. I'm sure it will be great though whatever!

I've not seen any posts of Hallowe'en, was anyone there?

Deb

We are here but we didn't do the Halloween evening. Sounds lame but after a busy day we really were just too tired ! But it was excellent by all accounts.

There's a lot of Brits here at the mo. At its core is a group of 21 couples who are part of a Northern Soul music fan club.

They had the Asian Wok to themselves one evening last week and tomorrow evening the Hot Rock will host them. It'll be a record number of evening dining guests at one go for the Hot Rock I should think...Laughing

Lots else to tell and will likely start a new thread for that in due course and maybe post a photo or two as well.

Ahead of that, if you're headed out here soon pleeeease make sure you bring mozzie repellent for skin application and high factor sun cream too. At the equator UV levels are far, far, higher than at European latitudes. Meeru does 'fog' the vegetation on the island at regular intervals but that process cannot eliminate all the mozzies breeding locations nor prevent occasional population spurts of the beasties following extended rainy spells.

Seen some very tortured bodies already (some truly awful bites and burns on show) and it's all completely avoidable.

Hello HJ,

Thanks for the post. I would imagine it was quite busy for the WOK too having that many people, Northern Soul not my cup of tea, but I have a few friends that would love to be on the island with that group!!

I'll look forward to hearing your news/updates. Has the dine around started yet?

Deb

Yes it has....and I'm delighted to report it's great Smile.

We had our first one last night at the Hot Rock and it was sumptuous. Beautiful food, great service, marvellous ambience.

For those scratching their heads at this point, the Dine - Around (Dine-A-Round?) system has been introduced for AI folk from 1st November onward.

What it means is that there is a special rotating series of set menus (each 5 courses) with several internal choices at the Hot Rock and Asian Wok (the menus are different at each venue) from which you can pick. You can have any one of these meals for free per five days that you are on the island.

That does not mean you need to wait five days for your next free meal. To repeat, your entitlement is one meal per 5 days you are here. If your entitlement is 2 free meals then it's OK to have them two days apart but that's it then; you've used them up.

The menus are tied to particular days of the week with the Vegan menu option available all nights.

When you book you'll need to specify the mains and dessert courses that you want.

Over and out f'now... Cool

You'll be here soon enough Cool.

Scene is looking North at Sunset outside the Uthuru bar with 700s JWVs at lower right.

This "smoke ring" was spectacularly being blown out of the top of a distant thunderstorm.

Courses or 'stages' you might call them, yes, five.

The main course meat options are really delicious but a particular hit with us was the sorbet course. Sprayed with Cointreau ("one spray or two, sir Smile ") on one menu option or Vodka in another.
