Valentines Dinner
This trip report is to give people a taster for the alternative restaurants which are not included within the All Inclusive tariff.
I will start with the Valentines dinner and add the other restaurants every few days.
We have eaten many times in the Amazing Asian Wok and have mentioned the variety and excellence in previous trip reports.
However, this year the Valentines Night meal on the beach, prepared and cooked by the chefs from there was, to quote Tina Turner‘ Simply the Best’….
I will do my best to tantalize your taste buds and transport you that magical place .
The staff had been mad busy since dawn making preparations for this spectacular evening.
Around 35 tables were placed approx 6 - 8 feet away from the water’s edge, the staff ensured that plenty of space was
left in between them so that once darkness fell the whole scene became an intimate setting for two.
Placed in between each table standing around 4ft tall was a handmade heart, which had been created from a huge palm leaf
and adorned with coloured fairy lights giving the whole beach a magical feel whilst free standing gel light / torches stood
upright in the sand lighting the waves as they gently brushed the shore.
With the palms swaying in the warm gentle breeze our wonderful evening was about to start.
We were greeted, given a glass of champagne and shown to our table.
The food was as expected a truly scrumptious affair , here is the menu….
Soups
Lobster Bisque
Or
Chicken Consomme with Egg Crepes Julienne *
Valentine bread rolls
Appetizers
Smoked Pacific Salmon with Dill Sour Cream and Spinach Roulade
On a bed of mixed Italian Lettuces
Or
French Pate Ardannais on ’Pan Grille’
With cranberry and passion fruit vinaigrette *
Main Courses
Chicken Breast filled with a Mango and Tiger Prawn Mousse
Served on a bed of fried noodles with thai sweet chilli sauce
Or
Grilled Atlantic Salmon Medallions
Topped with champagne hollandaise, rice timbale and ratatouille nicoise.
Or
Tournedos of Australian Beef served with Dijon Mustard *
potato duchess and vegetable kebab
Desserts
Sweet Surprise from our Pastry Chef *
Or
Selection of International Cheese and Fruit Platter *
I have indicated our choices with a *
Finished off with a plate of delicious hand made chocolates
We also had a bottle of Champagne
The cost was $150 per couple without Champagne , or $200 with Champagne.
I realise that this could be considered expensive but we looked at it like this. How much would we spend at home, going
to a posh restaurant, a taxi there and back, a bottle of Champagne and a gift for each other ??
This way for not much more, we were in the most romantic setting I could ever imagine in perfect weather and
with the kind of food and table service England could only wish for !
Our table was set beautifully, we each had a copy of the menu which was rolled and tied with a red ribbon. As a gift
for the girlies there was a fresh red rose which Steven couldn’t believe was real, its fragrance however convinced him that it was.
Deep red Bouganvillia (sp) nestled next to a candle and holder ensuring we had enough light to dine with.
Mirfan, our waiter for the evening attended to our every whim, pouring our champagne when the glasses were empty
(or should I say when my glass was empty !!! ) I drank the lot, it was delicious..
Now I can hear you saying ‘ what was it called then??’… sorry I cant remember but I will try to find out
As if the perfect setting wasn’t enough, a vocal group softly sang melodies which drifted in the breeze.
Taking centre stage were several stunning Ice Sculptures…
yes you read that right, Ice Sculptures which had been created by the same gentleman who does the Melon carvings
He was on hand all night and when inevitably the sculptures started to melt they seemed to form another shape,
as if he had designed them that way, they really were truly amazing, and what a wonderful talent .
The food was in abundance and when we were full to the gunnels and so relaxed that Steven said the sheer thought
of moving seemed impossible I felt the urge to dance.
All loved up and blibbly with champagne I had my slow dance with my gorgeous man.

Loads more photographs of the evening will be loaded up onto Steven's site in the next few days. www.meeruisland.co.uk |

sounds fantastic and truly romantic - reading about you and the champagne made me chuckle with fond memories of WAG island
We didnt arrive until 15th Feb so missed the Valentines meal but we were lucky enough to still be there on 28th Feb for the full moon dinner on the beach which was just as incredible ........ but everything on Meeru always is.
Well done Steven - yet another remarkable display of photos |

Really enjoyed reading that.
The Ice Sculptures are really good. When we went to the New Years Eve Gala dinner on Meeru they had an Ice Sculpture that simply said "2008". After midnight it had melted to say "2009".
I was intrigued for days and the lad wouldn't tell me how he did it, said it was a Maldivian secret. |
