hi all

well we have just been looking for camera's

and Edd fancies this Camera

the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38

any views on this camera

we can buy it at a great price

Being ill.....Edd is quite limited in things that he can do these days......he loves watching the birds in our back garden......and wants the camera to take close up shots of the birds that come into our garden

etc etc

we haven't got loads of money

and we can buy this camera in a bundle with a 4gb high speed SD card , with carry case... table tripod with 3 year warrenty

for

£269.99

any advice warmly accpeted as allways

Hi Maggie

Not used the camera myself and I've not had any experience with Panasonic's but I've put a few links below you could look at which you may find useful

ephotozine

dpreview

trusted reviews

photography blog

cameras.co.uk

I tend to use ephotozine and dpreview a lot when doing things camera related.

Oh and one more thing Maggie, I've found it cheaper Wink

£259 from Warehouse Express

£261.09 from Amazon

£261.09 from Dixons

Personally I'd go for Amazon as I find their after sales service second to none

thanx lee

i will have a look at the sites that you have given me

yep

we think that we where quoted a good price £269..98 with the extra's thrown in

the site www.bestcameras.co.uk also has a shop....a few miles from where we live

so we will go into the shop if we end up buying

what other camera in this price bracket would you recomend lee?

or have we got it right with this one?

cheers

maggie Wink

I've got a TZ5 maggie and it's amazing - one of the best compacts out there IMO.

thanx tartantiara

we did look at the panasonic TZ7

but Edd being a big built lad

didn't like the feel of the tiny compact camera in his hands

which is why he looked at this model

everything that we have heard from friends about the TZ range has been excellent

happy snapping

ooooooooooooooooo

and keep warm and safe tonight

it's mighty snowy up where you all are tonight

cheers

I have the Panasonic Lumix FZ28, fabulous bit of kit, one thing worth mentioning thats not in my handbook .... is that if you knock the image quality down to 5mp.. the maximum zoom goes from 18x to 25x, still great quality shots, if you go down to 3mp the zoom goes right upto 31.5x. The video on mine is excellent ... on the FZ38 it's supposed to be even better, in HD.
Looking forward to trying it out in May , less than 4 weeks to go !!!

Hello Maggie

Just had a look at that camera, I like it.

It has good glass in the lens and it has manual settings which allow you to play around a bit.

If I may be so bold, maggie, and suggest you buy a gift for Ed? I would say a book called "Understanding Exposure" written by Bryan Peterson. You can get it off Amazon for a tenner and its worth every penny. I keep it close by and even though I have read it cover to cover numerous times I still use it as reference.

Treat him to it, he will learn loads.
