I'm considering shooting everything in RAW for the first time when I go to the Maldives but I'm guessing I'm going to need some considerable memory to do this. Any ideas how many GB's I should get? |

i took 6 2GB cards with me plus 1 8GB.
i did this so i only used 1 particular card for more than 3 days just in case i had a card failure. that way if i lost any pics i wouldn't lose my whole holiday pics
they were only class 2 cards and weren't expensive.
i'm not sure what camera you have but in the manual it will suggest which card manufacturer you 'should' use and what class it should be
My new camera i am using 8GB cards and i have 3
hope this helps

Book a fortnight off work for the post processing
I would usually take around 1000 to 1500 photos (although not entirely RAW) and I think my Sony Alpha can only take a 4GB max
I would think around 3 x 4GB would suffice, but of course if your trigger happy then maybe extra? If you think you are getting low on memory I suppose you could always switch back to JPEG.
Looking forward to seeing some of your photos madmalteaser, you seem to be a keen amateur looking at some of your pics on this forum.

That's great guys, thanks very much. I shall be on ebay now, in a memory card purchasing frenzy!!!
And thanks Casey! Still very much an amateur but hoping I get some worthwhile shots while in Meeru! |

Thanks for that although I actually needed Compact Flash cards. Ended up going in to Tesco's today and scanning the barcode of the ones I wanted with my iphone and finding them half price on play.com!!!! The joys of modern technology!!! |
