Amongst other items, this mini report contains photos of the revised 600s. I know there's been lots of interest around this subject.

Another blazing hot day underway today, October 8th. Not humid either.

Pulled the blinds open to our Water Villa and saw this Cool:

Woke up this morning

They are now advertising for places for the Full Moon dinner for Wednesday 12th October. $40 pp for info.

Full Moon

Now to the 600s. We got a tour of 645 courtesy of Simon and Sharon (ivorfatarse). Couple of things to mention on this front.

First of all, the highest ones (above about the 635 mark, have been done and they're working their way downwards towards the middle of the island.

Secondly, although the rooms have been re-architectured new furniture oddments for them are awaited and due to arrive sometime soon.

People who know the 600s of old will note that the porches have been retimbered and hugely extended out into what used to be a path that ran past the front of the 600s.

A new winding path has been created through the middle of the "woodland glade" in front of the 600s. This path is far from the front of the 600s so if you're on your porch you'll rarely get people passing by now so things are much more private (as per the 100s).

Landing zone

Above, note the new pillars (these are painted concrete), along with the slatted panel that lends more privacy.

Inside, changes are considerable. Two walls are now artexed with a side window gone but a big glass window /door at the end (which is where a dressing table was). The bed is now round by 90 degrees.

There are two really useful spot reading lights above the bed.

Inside Job

The outside bathroom has been completely redone too.

Outside Job

Very Neat

The shower area has an interesting feature. A place to sit down. Very handy for doing your tootsies or if you suffer from back problems.

A complete shower

More updates soon.

Keep watching this space... Very Happy

Thanks HJ

The 600's are certainly looking better, we stayed in 629 a few years ago. I'm surprised that they haven't upgrade the TV's to flat screens like the water villas.

We're back in a couple of months, do you know if they've done any work on the 400's? We're hoping for a villa in the low 400's

Thanks for the update on the 600's HJ.
They certainly seem to have changed for the better and look much lighter with the addition of the window at the back.
Bathrooms look much improved too
Looking forward to the next instalment Laughing

Don't believe they have done anything to the LV stock, the focus of attention is on the 600 JLVs.

It would seem logical to update the LVs eventually but that's just purely speculation on my part.

James

Thanks so much for the much awaitied update and photographs..

Its a huge improvement, all light and airy now and with the new improved reading lights you wont have to take your well used and much loved little clip on light Very Happy

The new pathway thru the foliage also sounds like a sucsess, as well as providing privacy to the 600 users it also gives shade from that fabulous sun when waddling back from an indulgent breakfast and lunch ( or is that just me) Very Happy

I love the bathroom as well, all in all totally fabulous Cool

Keep those wonderful photos coming please

Pamela x

ps. Thankyou Sharon and Simon for the photo invasion Very Happy

Thanks for the updates and lovely photo's especially the view from the water room. I got so excited when I saw it - had to shout to the hubby to come and see - we are due there in 5 weeks and again staying in a water room

I am going to be checking each day to see you have posted any more reports ( maybe more if I can sneak a look at work)

Thanks HJ for all of this up to date information and taking the time to send it back here. The new 600s are now on the same lines as the 'new' 100s where me and the Mrs have stayed a few times, but even better by the look of it !

Hello Jim,

I have read a lot on this forum and finally this is my 1st post. 1st of all I would like thank you for all the information that you have shared.

I am visiting Meeru for the 1st time in the 2nd week of Dec 2011. I have booked a JBV for my Honeymoon and I am sure its going to be wonderful experience.

Can you provide updates on the JBV as to if all have been refurbished? Or do you have any recommendation for my 1st honeymoon? Very Happy

If you can share the latest pics of JBV, that will be great. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum, many congratulations to you both, and thanks for posting, icy_cool Very Happy .

Be aware that there are two JBV room number ranges. The 100s and the 600s. You can see them on this map:

( Look for 601-661 and 101-122 )

The 100s are some of the newest rooms on Meeru and very modern.

The 600s which are in the upper half of the island are older but are now being updated to be similar to the 100s.

When I left the island to come home on 20th October about half of the 600s had been updated and probably this progress has advanced further since then. Also replacement new modern furniture has arrived at the island and is being delivered into the 600s. My guess, and it is only a guess, is that the work will be much closer to completion when you arrive (or finished entirely). I have no newer photos than I have already shown but things have progressed since.

To repeat, I do not know the timescale for completion of the updates - which are being done in groups of several rooms in one go - but you can be assured that whatever JBV you receive (100s or 600s) that it will be a most excellent residence. On previous occasions we have stayed in 600s, but the 100s are great places to be as well. Cool

Hello Jim,

I have been busy with the wedding stuff and didn't get time to look into this. And yet the prep is going on as the D day is about 10 days away. And then my trip starts on 11th Dec.

The info provided by you have always been excellent and it is the same this time. I am sure be it any JBV, it is going to be excellent. Thanks once again. If there is anything that I would like to know, I will bother you once again Smile
