We arrived on meeru on 6/10 after an overnight flight via dubai with Emirates.

the transfer was faultless and nothing prepares you for your first glimpse of Meeru .. WOW!

We were greeted by Moosa and he explained everything to us about our room where it was etc the restaurants and where to find everything as we hadnt been before . We also arrnaged to meet him the day after to discuss our wedding arrangements flowers etc.

Once we were taken to our room Watervilla 516 the minute we stepped into it we felt at home. Mohamed our room boy introduced himself and over the next couple of days we had a giggle with him. He was lovely .. truly lovely , He even arranged for my wedding dress to be ironed so i didnt have to .

We spent the rest of the day exploring and finding our feet and just couldnt
wait to get to the malaan restaurant. And boy we werent disappointed.
Hussain was our waiter. He was an absolute gem , i wanted to bring him home with us! The attention to detail and how special you are made to feel
on Meeru is second to none. We have stayed in some really expensive places
around the world but none have been as personable as here. The food was
faultless. I have heard some say the food was cold etc. but i think they must have it mixed up with somewhere else?

We met with Moosa the next day to arrange our photographer , flowers, etc
and just run through our schedule for our wedding. He was so laid back and stopped me worrying about everything. Really calms you .
We then had massages at the over water spa. I had the hot stone massage and paul had some stress busting massage which to be honest sounded to
me like he was doing ten rounds with Mike Tyson but he assured me it was good! The hot stone massage i found the sensation a little odd at first with
hot stones placed on the sole of your feet palms of your hand and all along your spine and on your shoulder too.. But it really works, specially when you are then pummelled with the stones . It was great, the ladies in the spa work so hard and the ginger tea after was just to die for!

Monday finally arrived and i was taken to the spa at 3pm. i had my hair and
make up done and decorated with flowers and my bouquet was ready.

Before i knew it Paul had arrived along with the drummers and the singers and our photographers.

The drums started beating the ladies started singing and we walked slowly
down to the beach,it was really emotional.

People were watching clapping and wishing us well. It was truly
wonderful. We finally said our vows and kissed witnessed by people on the
beach who gave us a cheer! we joked and said there were more guests at
this wedding than at our first !

Next came the Dhoni ride, what an experience, i thought twice i was going to fall out of it! Paul assured me i wasnt and kept hold of me just in case!.
we were then met off the boat by the drummers and singers once more and taken to our room where our wonderful room boy Mohammed had decorated our bed for us and it was simply stunning and must have taken him ages!

We then spent the next two hours having photos taken and choosing our
favourites for the album which we had ordered and the rest would be put on a Dvd for us .

After an emotional afternoon we spent the evening having a romantic dinner at the Asian wok, absolutely recommend to anyone the food is superb!. Washed down with a bottle of champagne which was half price at the time.! finally we retired to bed happy and content. Wink

The next day we packed up and headed off on the cruise. We met some fantastic people and made some great friends . The cameraderie on our boat was hilarious! from on deck shower fights after snorkelling to drinking the boat dry of gin and having to send Ahmed to the other boat for more supplies! we had a ball on Kagi Island and the full moon beach dinner we had. the food was amazing and you really are spoilt on the boat by attentive staff and guides. We had just the best time crusing around and the men
being macho and diving off the boat straight into the sea and swimming to shore while us girlies waited for the speedboat to take us instead!.

When we arrived back on Meeru we were upgraded to an over the water Watervilla 708. I have to be honest though as nice as they are we preferred our original watervilla. We did enjoy the extra touch of the fresh coffee
maker as i do drink alot of coffee and the steps into the sea was nice too but for us they don't have the charm of the Watervillas. The Japanese zen
style interiors are just too modern for us. We prefer something a little more rustic.that said we embraced it and by the time we came to check out we
were really sad to be leaving,
One good thing though at least i won on the "crab racing" Laughing

A few notes.
Rats . we only saw two small ones and to be honest they dont bother you
so why bother about them?

Bites we didnt get any but we did take garlic capsules daily and went
prepped but didnt need it.

Beaches perfectly clean and if you do see any litter why not pick it up
instead of complaining the staff work darned hard to give you a
good holiday!

Workmen we saw a few workmen adding sand to the walkways etc and paul
gave them $5 each, they were so gratetful. They do an amazing
job so should be included in your tipping should you see them out
and about as i am sure they very often get forgotten.

Tipping. We generally gave Hussain $3 a day then the day we left we gave
him another $30 the same for the room boys ,Bars we just tipped
$1 whenever we ordered drinks

Restaurant we put $50 int he tip box for the staff in the restaurant because
boy do they make some impressive food. And if we ate out at
home we would tip anyway.

In short it was an absolute perfect place that stole our hearts from the minute we set foot on the island.

Would we go back? In a heartbeat

So for all those sceptics out there reading idiots abroad on Trip adviser, make your own mind up from people who have been with an open mind and enjoyed it more than words can express.

I will add pictures once have sorted out a photo bucket account .. Truly amazing time. And hope we can afford to go back soon. Fingers crossed but yes it's really emotional more than I expected but I think most of that also came from how special you are made to feel by the staff from the moment you set foot on the island x I will edit and add more when I put the pictures on . My brain is still addled from lack of sleep weather change and just general struggling with post meeru blues!

Thanks for a great trip report and lovely photos.

It looked like you had a wonderful stay on Meeru.

I totally agree with you, about how hard everyone there works, in the background. They are really special.
