Has anyone worked underwater with a 550D yet? I was wondering if it's sufficient to produce decent images with the standard 18-55mm that comes with it... I will be bringing the 5D mk3 but there is no unterwater housing for that camera yet... and it's probably way to valuable to get wet Smile

I'd be happy to share some experiences with people having shot on meeru before... wear a shirt and lots of sunscreen they said Smile

I've never yet taken an SLR underwater. Partly because of a fear of leaks / damage but mostly because housings are sooo expensive for them, well hard ones are anyhow. For the amount of use I would give a decent one I couldn't justify the expense on those grounds either.

And also as a mere snorkeller I wouldn't be going anywhere near the rated depth of such housings, depths where the big things are.

But I can dream... Razz

i got a 550D kit with housing for about 1800 euros... thats quite an amount of money but peanuts considered what a housing for the 5d might cost in the near future.... you probably get two 550d's for that Smile
so i figured, rather risk the live of a 550D - that's less cost & damage Smile

i have tried mine underwater although i have not gone really deep since i was not sure how deep the underwater case could handle before it leaks or anything so i was yet to find out. i do hope that i can post my underwater pictures here but i can pretty much say they produce clear images and they are all worth it!
