Hi Soobs

Are you on Cruise Critic by any chance? Saw some posts and thought it might be you.

Funnily enough, we're giving Meeru a miss this year and do the caribbean on Azura. When are you going?

We're off on 14 February, first time with P&O and we're really looking forward to it.

It'll be very different from Meeru though.

ah what a shame a month apart!! we sail 7.3.13 on the Azura it would have been fantastic meeting up comparing thoughts on a very different holiday that only Meeru lovers can understand

You must let me know what to expect we have done a TA to New York for as spot of Xmas shopping but not a proper cruise - 7 sea days is a crossing not a cruise. The weather was so bad we couldn't go out for 3/4day of the 7 days at sea but all the same was an experience.

Here's waiting your report - cannot wait what a shame it's not the same dates

Susan

Hi Susan

I'll let you know how we get on. We've done 2 cruises in the past with Ocean Village, 1 transatlantic 21 nights and the repositioning cruise for OV2 to Singapore, loved both of them but I think P&O will be very different with the formal nights etc.

Only 3 weeks to go now.

HI we did our first cruise with Cunard in the QE last year and loved every minute although was only 5 nights , we really enjoyed the formal night and what they called the elegant casual nights. We intend to go on another cruise at some stage prob after 2014 once our daughters wedding is paid for and we maybe able to afford to go on holiday again Very Happy

We did a TA in December 2010 for a spot of Xmas shopping it was the rughest crossing the Comadore had done on the QM2, we wern't allowed outside for 3 days all the doors we blocked off, the entertainers couldn't dance on stage a couple of nights and loads of staff were sick.

It was great all the same there was something fatastic about sailing into NY at 5am with the lights twinkling and getting closer and closer then the big lady appears very magical. It was a bit to formal for us, P & O has casual nights where as Cunard did smart casual but men still had to wear a suit.

Just got to do research on the islands now

Hi soobs

We have done three caribbean cruises two with Thomspin/airtours and a transatlanic one from barbados to southampton. We thought the thompson was equally as good as p&o. Wee have also done a noway one and med ones.

Let us know what islands you are going to and i will see if we can help.

We are of to Vilamendho on 10th Feb celebrating 2 big birthdays. We have also booked to go back to Meeru for christmas, even though we fly back boxing day.

Hi Pauline

We tossed and turned where to go after speaking to Lee last year on Meeru and he was talking about taba Heights we were tempted - think he is there now?

Any way we decided to tick another to do off the list,we are stopping off (subject to change) Barbados, Curasco, Aruba, St Vincent, Grenada, Barbados, St Maarten, Tortola, Guadeloupe - may change to St Kitts or Antgua if like other cruises subject to itinary change, St Lucia then back to Barbados and flight home another holiday over and done with. Just hope we dont get Meeru longing

Can you assist - hope you ar eboth keeping well and may see you again sometime on Meeru allthough getting a little out of our price bracket

You are right lee and shell are in Taba at the moment, they come home Tuesday.

I say it every time but think next christmas could be the last time for Meeru unless a deal comes up. I have always had Christmas/ new year on tick list. Have done new year when we met Lee and Shell, so as i hate christmas we have decided to back even though we fly back boxing day.

We have been to Barbados St Maartyen, and St Lucia You must do a trip to the top of St. Lucia particularly Pidgeuon, (its joined to the mainland).
Of course you must try all the rums. We visited Barbados a long time ago, where we visited some caves and gardens. We also went to walk into St maarteen but decided the hill was to steep. We were disapointed with Antigua ( stayed there for 2 weeks, its very flat and the locals were not that friendly) The trouble with crusies is there trips are usually expensive. We are not the type for venturing off on our own, we have met people who have been ripped off and also nearly missed the boat. Hope this helps.

Watch out forour vilamendho trip report We fly out 10th Feb
