Loving it here, finally nice to make a comparison with the Maldives. Off to Praslin and La Digue tomorrow after a few days on Mahe. Brilliant weather and super hot as no wind for this time of year here.

A couple of pics..

La Digue is proper slowed down Seychelles and is the proud owner of one of the best beaches in the world Anse Source d'Argent. Many a photoshoot and a calender photographed here. The granite rocks were looking stunning this afternoon when we visited...

Amazing rocks. Perhaps a good reason for a geography field trip. Thanks for the photo updates. I think we had a 3oC high today

Thanks for the comments guys, and to make things any easier for you regarding the cold weather back home in blighty, it is some what a chore you do realise applying sun screen in 32 degree heat. Anyway all those heading to Meeru soon have a fab time. The weather here has been superb with no rain at all up to now even though February is still one of the wetter months here in Seychelles.

We visited Praslin also yesterday and the UNESCO world hertage site of the Vallee de Mai where the Coco De Mer palms grow and can only be found on the Island of Praslin.
Although very easy to drive here as you drive the same side as UK, we decided on a private driver to take us to some high mountain vantage points for some great views....

A few hours also in the Capital Victoria the smallest capital in the world where the central point is 'Small Ben' another version of Big Ben in London and gifted buy the UK back in the day..

I'm off for a cool glass of wine as the sun is going down now maybe a bit of stargazing later....

Seriously loving the pics Casey. We're up in your neck of the woods at the moment enjoying the sunny crisp weather and snowy fells.

Funny - the one thing I hate about Meeru is the constant sunscreen application. I certainly don't miss it on my reply to the UK.

Enjoy your holiday - sounds like an exciting trip

Jo

Well its our last night here at the fabulous Kempinski Resort hotel and very happy to spending Valentines night here in the beautiful Seychelles with my lovely wife. Lots going on here this evening such as sand sculptures, private meals on the beach, live bands and as always some fabulous food on offer. And talking of food I'm going to stick my neck out here and this place just pips the Maldives (this hotel anyway) for variety, quality, service in respect to the food and beverage. Pricey yes, as in general no All Inclusive, but there are a couple of hotels that do AI, but in general it is not their market.

Happy Valentines everyone and will post some more pics on Flickr upon return Very Happy

Nice pictures Casey, glad you got a photo of Pig Rock from La Digue.

Did you get to see the ex Governors house on La Digue and its history in the 70s/80s.

Hi Polly & Adrian,
Weird rock formations for sure, ( I think pig rock was on Mahe), also did you notice the small island that looks like a mouse and another that resembles a turtle in the pics?
Unfortunately pushed for time a bit on La Digue so missed out on the governors house but L'Union Estate was interesting with the traditional ways of the manufacturing of the coconuts into the oil. Would like to have done a couple of the southern beaches on La Digue but we were only day tripping and had to catch the last ferry back to Praslin. Glad we did it though and regret a bit not spending a few nights there.
