Arrived approx 5pm local time following an uneventful Emirates flight(s)
Booked a water villa but they don't have any available for 2 days so we have been bumped into a 700's JWV. A bit of a pain not being able to unpack but not complaining as it gives us a chance to re-live our honeymoon when we were mostly in 712.
Just raided the beer in the mini bar, next a shower and then a bite to eat in the Maalan
Weather was good on arrival, hoping it stays this way Smile

We enjoyed our last evening last night in our temporary 700's JWV

and came back to our bed decorated after dinner at the Malaan and a couple of drinks in the Uthuru bar

We are now in our new home for the remainder of the holiday, a 500's water villa and very happy with it we are. Good facilities and a super view

The house wine is very enjoyable (much better than 10 years ago!) and we had a superb tuna fish curry yesterday lunch Smile
We have had a walk around the island on both days and plan to do this each day to get a little exercise in to work off a few of those extra calories consumed!!
I've noticed that the neighbouring island is something of an eyesore, we both commented that we would be gutted to get allocated a room overlooking this. One side of this is especially ugly, it resembles what I imagine a scrap metal yard on a mad max movie set would be like. If we were to return again I would want assurances we wouldn't have this view

Hi lovely pics and the 500s are fab too. The island next door has a hotel/guest house and I think it's a boat building area you can see. It certainly has changed over there. Glad you're having a great time and I'm impressed with the daily walks- it's so easy to do nothing
Jo

Yes it really has changed on our first trip to Meeru in 2002 or 3 the island looked a long way off and had a lot of trees so you couldn't see what was on the island. I did a trip over there for a few hours and it was very friendly and looked nothing like the pictures below.
I know it cannot be helped what it looks like I just hope it's not my view from the beach when we arrive on Thursday.

Morning everybody, quick update from paradise
The weather continues to be fantastic, we have been very lucky so far

We had dinner at the hot rock a few nights ago, wonderful experience. Mrs Marca had the Ostrich which she reported to be excellent and I had the large fillet steak, also excellent. Both came with veggies and fries, just the main course was plenty for both of us. Desert came by way of the desert cocktails in the Uthuru bar
We've also had a dangle at the Asian Wok with sundowners

We've witnessed some beautiful sunsets

We've managed to stick to the pledge of walking around the island each day but this morning decided to do this by kayak instead

Thanks for the updates and lovely pictures, we are going back in October and once again staying in the 500's. It's been a few years since we have stayed in then as prices were too high so went in the beach villa's on previous occasions. Can't wait to be back in the 500's so seeing the pictures of them was great. Enjoy the rest of your stay and hope the weather keeps good for you
