Arrived safe and sound they gave us 706 we asked if it was at all possible to be in the 300's as we prefer them and as usual nothing is too much trouble for them.
Here we go Meeru 2017

Small piece of news from Meeru
All the door locks have been changed from the key type to electronic card (near field) so no more lugging the big key fobs around
I had assumed they were changed a long time ago but at the repeaters party last night the reservations manager advised me it was only done a couple of weeks ago
The weather continues to be outstanding
The food at the Maldivian buffet last night was lovey. We followed this with desert cocktails at the Uthuru bar
It's such a shame that people won't leave there phones alone!! At one point in the Uthuru last night there were 2 Skype / FaceTime conversations going on and somebody's text messages going off like a pinball table around us (after dinner)
There's a time and a place! Maybe it's just a sign of me getting old!!

As someone whose husband managed to lose our key whilst swimming last year I do hope the new cards will float round from the water villas to the sports centre too Rolling Eyes

Shanksy, you'll be please to know that the card fits nicely inside the internal pocket that you usually have inside swim shorts so your husband should not fall foul of that one again

Interesting about the keys. I assumed they had kept a traditional style key so that if they ended up in the water the wooden fob would float and when we were there last one of our neighbours did lose his key that way and recover it. And clearly he's not the only one judging by Shanksy's post. My neighbour was French and there was no pocket in his trunks for keys - wore it round his neck on a lanyard. Hope he reads this forum before his return!!

I agree with the phones in public places issue. It really annoyed me at breakfast which is such a peaceful part of the day. Grrrr.

Hot off the press......an area at the back of the Uthuru bar has been cleared
They are adding a games area, snooker etc, a mini version of what's at the Kakuni bar

Ref: The use of mobile phones on Meeru, unless you know the actual reason why people need to use their mobile phones then it so easy to jump to the conclusion and moan why these are being used. Some may be not necessary but !
Bearing in mind that the UK is 5 hours behind Meeru time, and the number of major incidents that have gone on in the UK in the last 2 or so weeks.
People may be using their phones to keep in touch with people that have been effected by these incidents.

I know from when I was in hospital in the UK after an eight hour operation and given about 10 mins to live my daughter was on Meeru at the time and had to keep in contact with home and family and used her phone as and when she needed too. If it upset people then so be it as family comes first over other people. The bar area is large enough for people to either move away from phone users or if they upset you ask them to move. Good Luck with that one, I know what I would say.

Regards

Adrian

Hmmmm, yes phones for emergencies, keeping in touch with family etc. but if you've overhead some of the conversations - and it's hard not to, some people use them as much as they do at home.

Personally if I HAD to make or take a telephone call when I was in a restaurant, I'd go outside - I'd want the privacy.

Apologies in advance if I offend and I don't usually respond to political type comments, but is it not bad manners to be on the phone whilst dining and the conversations we are witnessing are about selfies and self indulgent things like that not life threatening situations like what the UK has suffered over recent weeks.
In general people with real problems are discrete and keep their private emotions to themselves the phones out at in the dining rooms are usual social media activity.
Sorry for a bit of a rant.

x
