Current free cruise offers?

Hiya

We'll be back on Meeru in 2 weeks and if we are offered the free cruise we will likely take it this time.

What I'm asking please is for people to respond with what they know about the cruises ie which boats they use, how many rooms each boat has, if the cabins have A/C and ensuite or not, to help me decide whether or not to go if I am offered.

Also any tips for being prepared for them - what to take, what not to take etc. Might it be offered on check in? Perhaps I should have a small bag already packed?

Thanks in advance!

We'll be at Meeru in about 24hours from now. Yay...!

Two years back we took up the cruise on the new Hagern. Truly fabulous experience. Everyone treated like royalty Smile .

The Hagern has loads of roaming and relaxing space on board and accommodates max of 22 guests, i.e. 11 couples, plus supporting crew.

Rooms are comfy and, yes, air conditioned as I recall. Each room has a small basic en suite. Room allocations are randomly assigned when you embark. If tides permit you'd board direct from the main jetty, if not a small transfer Dhoni will take you out to the boat.

Yes, it'll be worth sorting a small bag to take the stuff you want on board. Towels and toiletries not needed as they're provisioned.

It's usual practice that Meeru will securely store the rest of your possessions while you're at sea, and when you get back they'll put you into a room type of at least the same category as you arrived into (it's unlikely you will end up in the exact same room number).

If you're interested, check with Reception soon after arrival. It may make sense to try and schedule things so you do the trip mid-way through your holiday (after you've re-acclimatised / built up a bit of sun resistance).

Back when we did the Hagern trip the Kamana , below, was also in use.

But that was back then; if I can get any contemporary info, detail of current boats in use & offers etc., I'll post it into this thread.

As you're likely aware, the free cruises are put on at Meeru's discretion.

HTH

Thanks HJ, that's really helpful. If you wouldn't mind posting if you get any offers that would be great too, thanks.

Have a great trip!

Just back from another 8 wonderful days on Meeru. For the first time in 17 visits I finally went on the Hagern and loved every minute. The crew go out of their way to make sure your trip is memorable. It was offered on our arrival Friday to go Sunday afternoon returning Monday afternoon. Highly recommend the experience. 12 small but comfy cabins each with mini ensuite facility. Travel light and take your snorkelling gear. Enjoy Cool

It was offered again throughout the week as was the Kamana also.

We're here Cool

And a leaflet has appeared in our room's post box on this our first evening!

Summary of details for those who have an interest in the cruises.

========================================
Special Offer:

Kamana based free cruise. 7 cabins with aircon.

From Wednesday 4th Oct to Thursday 5th Oct 2017. Sunbathing, snorkelling, fishing, BBQ under the stars and much more...

ADDITIONAL BENEFITS after your return

- Free upgrade from Full Board to All Inclusive plus on board
- For all inclusive plus guests $85 dinner in Asian Wok

Offer limited to Beach Villas and above categories. Spaces are limited!

========================================

Although you can never be certain that particular wild life will be encountered it's not untypical that dolphins and / or manta rays turn up on these trips.

I'll keep posting cruise leaflet info as and when it turns up. But it stands repeating, these trips are put on at short notice by Meeru at their discretion and you cannot assume such will be available in advance of your arrival at the island or during your stay.

Thanks HJ. Does Kamana have ensuite or shared bathrooms, does anyone know?

I assume Meeru is as magical as always HJ? Where are you staying this time?

I seem to recall that the Kamana does not have ensuite cabins

We had a fantastic time on the Gomafulhu which operates out of Vilamendhoo this has ensuite to all cabins

Looking forward to your updates and pictures HJ

Yes, times they are amazing here to be sure!

And tonight....is Full Moon Dinner night.

My Pam has already locked on to the Tiger Prawns Laughing .

[UPDATE: The Full Moon Dinner has been postponed 24 hours due to wind strength and a rather squally turn the weather took around lunchtime here. Optimistic all will be good for tomorrow]

Another Kamana based cruise offer today for Saturday 7th Oct to Sunday 8th October. So one night away for this one. As before this one limited to Beach Villa residents and above categories.

I note that the Hagern trips seem (to date) to occupy two nights away [UPDATED NOTE: Now know not always the case with the Hagern, sometimes it's one night away]. Even one night away is attractive; like a free Love Boat cruise plus extra time!

Weather is gorgeous today, still a strong breeze but the temp has soared.

Fingers crossed for the Full Moon Dinner going off OK tonight Smile

Full Moon Dinner a HUGE success.

All happened under a big mellow yellow moon accompanied by beautiful gentle live music next to a glittery lagoon. Terrific ambience...magic memories were forged tonight.

Thank you Meeru salut .

PS:

Another Hagern based cruise offer in our post box when we got back to the room. Same terms and conditions (i.e. open to Beach Villa occupants and above) as the Hagern offer I described earlier but note this time one night away. Departure Sun 8th Oct, sailing to Kagi Island, and returning on Monday afternoon after lunch on board.
