Advice on price!

Hello All,

Myself and my husband last visited Meeru in November 2013 for our honeymoon and have been saving ever since to return as it was truly paradise on earth! We are planning to return to Meeru at the end of 2018 (Oct-Dec) and would love some advice from you as to when we should book?

We have been keeping an eye on prices for the last couple of months and see the prices keep varying but we are reluctant to actually book until we know we have the best deal.

We are looking for 2 weeks between October and December, all inclusive in a JWV. The best price we have seen so far is £6200ish including the speedboat transfer. This is a much better price than we had for our honeymoon which was about £7k for the equivalent. Are we likely to get this any cheaper by holding out until March/April to book?

In all honesty this isn't a holiday we can afford every year but since our honeymoon we have decided to do our best to return every 5 years for a special wedding anniversary and do it 'properly' in a JWV. We are itching to book it now but don't want to pay over the odds if we can help it

Any advice will be much appreciated!

Thankyou, Sharon

Hi Sharon

Meeru is a popular destination. There are only so many rooms and they tend to get booked up quite quickly.

Lots of factors can alter holiday pricing (they fluctuate daily) but with demand constant and supply running out the core price can drift up markedly as you near the time you want to go.

But really, £6200ish for a JWV for a fortnight looks like a fantastic deal to my eyes. I don't see that going lower at all or worth gambling that it might.

You said it yourself; in 2013 you paid nearer £7K!

You don't mention the board basis, but even at Full Board (rather than A/I) I would bag that deal immediately and allow myself to be extermely chuffed about it too!

Don't delay. Go for it Cool.

Jim, thank you for your reply. I read this forum a lot and often sit daydreaming about my return to Meeru while looking at everyone's reviews, i've seen your name come up on many posts before. Having heard from you that this was a good deal we immediately booked. Think we just needed a little reassurance that this was a good price.
It was all inclusive via Travel Bag which i've heard good things about on this forum.
Roll on October! I can't wait to revisit and recreate our amazing honeymoon.

Kind Regards,
Sharon

Agreed also you have have bagged a decent deal there.
If you were a gambling person then 15 weeks before departure can get you some decent flight fares but your choosen accomodation will certainly be not available as Meeru runs at high capacity most of the time and occasionaly the big agents can spring a flash sale now and again but in general the original prices are usually tagged on the higher side anyway compared to the more specialist agents so not really a deal.

Emirates holidays occasionally have a complimentary upgrade from FB to AI now and again for Meeru which can be a decent deal. Enjoy your return visit to Meeru..which airline was this ?

It's an emirates flight. There were plenty of other airlines to choose from and some would have been cheaper, however we went with Emirates as we will land at 9.30am on our first day and not leave until evening on our last day giving us almost 15 full days on Meeru and I couldn't pass up that chance!
Last time we left in the morning of our last day and I hated seeing everyone lounging by the pool enjoying a beautiful day as we left Smile

VERY GOOD deal then with Emirates flights included as in general they are usually higher than Etihad, Sri Lankan and BA.
Are you planning to pre book seats on Emirates as these will be extra cost if your fare is a saver fare in economy?

Shazza,

Feel free to contact me at jan.gledhill@hays-travel.co.uk and I will try my best to beat that price for you. I am a self employed Travel Consultant so can usually get pretty good prices.

Very good advice from Jim. Iíve seen several customers hold out for a better deal only to extend the price go up and up. I recommend booking as soon as you can.
