Hi

Just got our tickets in the post this morning. Travelling to Meeru for the first time on 30 Jan. Who else is travelling on that day from Manchester? Does anyone have any useful tips for our first visit.

Really excited now tickets have arrived!!

Hi Phil & Kathryn,

Welcome to the forum Very Happy

You can get a lot of info from the search tab at the top of the page. Just type in a word you want some info on (tipping, suncream etc).
Anything specific in mind..just ask away and someone will help you.

Have a great holiday (not long now Very Happy )

Thanks for that Casey. I don't want to find out too much before we go, I like to have some surprises! Its just nice to talk to other people who have actually been there, the majority of whom seem to love it. I'm just looking forward to 2 weeks of relaxation and hopefully some well deserved sunshine!

Just one thing - I've read that most of the time there is no need for shoes on the island. It's not really for me that I'm asking, I just need to reassure Phil that he doesn't really need 6 pairs of shoes!!! Laughing Laughing

Deffo no shoes....flip flops or a pair of sandles will do. all areas are covered in sand, bars, restaurants (except Asian Wok)

Thats what I thought. How about for going in the water, are there rocky areas where you might need water shoes?

No rocky areas as such..but aqua shoes are worth bringing as some areas have some broken coral bits in the lagoon that can be quite sharp underfoot.

Aqua shoes are easy to find and very cheap (but a bit expensive in the shop on Meeru) so bring some with you.

Hi Kath,
Also, it's not a dressy place, just go for comfort. It's soooo relaxed, would also recommend a pair of reef shoes and flip flops. No towels, hair dryer etc, all provided by Meeru.
Hope you enjoy it Laughing

Jo

Take plenty of suntan lotion instead of shoes.
We went through 9 bottles in 2 weeks, as even though there is a breeze it is still very hot.
The sell it in the shop but it's over $20. Shocked
