I recently bought an Olympus mju 1050SW, which is advertised as shockproof as well as waterproof.

Within 30 mins of getting it out of the box I accidently dropped it, it landed on the screen which consequently shattered, rendering it useless.
The way its designed, the screen protrudes, and so if it lands glass side down then thats yer lot.

Ironic really, first "tough" camera I've ever owned, is the first Ive ever broken.

Had seriously thought of buying the olympus MJU 1030, but
read so many bad reports of them failing I decided to stick
to the sony P10 with underwater housing.

Well my 790Sw has been brilliant. Its got more dents and scratches on it than you could shake a stick at but it always produces the good below and above the waterline.

Mark. is yours ok with indoor photos. Mine take good photos outside, but indoors, everything seems too bright. Almost as though the flash is too strong.

I have an 1030SW for a few years. It takes awesome pictures and is fun to pack around in the armband I bought from Olympus. THe videos are a bit small, but good quality. I purchased a TG810 tough 14MP and I truely hate it. It takes forever to start up, takes forever to focus and then after you snap a pic, it takes forever to get ready for the next shot. Makes me appreciate my older 1030SW even more. I tried to love the tg810, but its really not a good camera.

I recently bought olympus 1030SW and I am really impressed with it. It has good picture quality, finished photos and all I can say is just awesome.
