You can't get a drink in the terminal? Can you in the lounge?

Emirates follows Islamic food & drink handling procedures, the flight attendants don't (technically) serve alcohol...they give it out in miniature sealed bottles so that passengers may serve themselves.
They do keep all of the alcohol in the bottom compartments of the serving trolleys, what you see on top is usually water, juice and hot beverages etc.

But don't be shy these are indeed complimentary (except Champagne as mentioned) and do stock some fine wines to accompany your meal.

All our booze (and I hate flying so there was a lot of it!) was served to us in bottles that had already been opened so not sure about the above post! On some of the connections we were even given a choice of wines by a very enthusiastic steward who was very proud of their selections! We had some champagne too as it was our honeymoon and it was 8 USD for a quarter bottle of Moet.

At Dubai itself there are restaurants and bars on the upper levels that very definitely served booze too, but it wasn't cheap! The duty free was also only about a quid cheaper than Tesco, not worth the hassle in our opinion!
